ABOUT US

John and Sally Oakden both spent their lives with horses.  Sally was born and raised on the beautiful Isle of Skye.  Her youth was spent working at the family equestrian centre Sandford Stables and helping her mother break in Highland Ponies for Eynort Estate.  Working with completely wild Highland Ponies is incredible and to have learned to work intuitively with them was a real privilege and not something you come across every day!  She moved to the Lake District to further her equestrian education and met John.  John's family are heavily into eventing and have had several family members on various British Teams.  
John and Sally helped run John's family's Lakeland Equestrian which was established by John's mother in the 1960s.  Lakeland Equestrian was a hugely popular equestrian centre based in Windermere.  We offered all the normal riding school lessons as well as offering training (both BHS and NVQ) for exams right up to BHS Instructor level.  We were recipients of the prestigious "Investors In People" Award and were in The Times Top 10 Business Websites.  We are so proud of both achievements!
Sally is in the unique position to have worked extensively with one of our Native Breeds, cared for top class competition horses and overseen the daily care of more than thirty horses for the riding school.  Every horse is different and Sally has always had an interest in caring for elderly horses (and dogs!) and  has the experience and commitment to give your horse the very best retirement!
