FACILITIES

Bespoke stables on a variety of yards depending if your horse prefers quiet and calm or benefits from having a more varied view of life!  None of our yards are "busy" but some are more social and some are more peaceful.

Well kept turnout with field shelters and a variety of hedging.  Our fields are level and well drained and and turnout is always in small groups.  We rotate and rest fields as part of our land management programme so the fields are always kept in pristine condition.

Our school tends to only be used for our own horses and for vet visits if a horse needs to be trotted up for example.  It is also useful if your horse is here for convalescence and may be returning to work.

Similarly our horse walker is used by our own horses and for certain convalescent care depending on each individual case.

We can offer accommodation if required for you to visit your horse.  We have a beautiful self contained annexe available for a weeks stay or maybe just a long weekend!  There are many lovely places to visit in the area (Burghley House, Houghton Hall to name a couple) so why not combine your visit to see your horse with a mini break!

The whole yard has the benefit of CCTV.  We take security seriously, outer gates are locked overnight and there is no admittance to the yard unless previously authorised.  Of course this does not apply if your horse lives with us - you are welcome any time!

It is worth noting that Portsands Farm is John and Sally's home and therefore we are always around.  Several members of staff also live on site so your horse has the benefit of always having someone on hand.  Depending on which yard your hose is on they can be seen out of the kitchen window!
